June 2020 Newsletter

From CDA President

Life has slowed down for many of us and afforded us more free time. Use this free time to spend time with your horse without expectations. Your regular interactions with your equine partner usually follow a mental agenda. You catch your horse in the paddock or take them out of the stall and straight to the cross ties to tack up.

Take time to just spend time with your horse – no agenda. Hang out with them in the paddock with a cup of coffee – no interaction. Take them out for hand grazing – no expectations. Work this into your horse schedule and see if there is a change – no anxiety – more curiosity. They will think, “hmm, what are we going to do today?”

Be calm and ride on!

VITOR SILVA International Dressage Master Clinic

September 12 & 13, 2020 at Shoreline Equestrian Center in Milford, CT

From in-hand work, under saddle or on long-lines, Vitor teaches his students that while masters or trainers can share their knowledge and explain the technical aspects of riding, each rider must open themselves to feel the horse’s movements, responses and needs. Vitor strives to develop an intuitive feel in his students so that harmony between horse and rider can be achieved.
